Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber & Visitors Bureau issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.

Hundreds of families in the Northeast Georgia region are impacted by disability and many of them have very limited resources and connections in the community. ConnectAbility is working to change that and create a fully inclusive community in which ALL members are included and supported so they can contribute their gifts. ConnectAbility provides multiple support options for families, all at NO COST to them. The Thousand Words Photography Project is an inclusive community program where all people come together under the common interest of photography – not just disabilities!

Photography is an opportunity for individuals to speak and share his or her unique talents, perspectives and voice. The Thousand Words Photography Project builds teams made up of photographers, individuals with disabilities and volunteers from our community and together they collaborate to capture images that share a common theme. This year’s theme is “This Place” and gives our photographers an opportunity to share images of places and experiences that are important to them.

We are looking forward to hosting our 8th Annual Fundraising Gala on January 25, 2020 at the Ramsey Center on the campus of Lanier Technical College in Gainesville. The amazing photographs taken by the teams are available to purchase in a silent auction online now and at the event. In addition, we will have an exciting live auction with a Tuscany trip for four, overnight stay in a treehouse and other adventures. Two Dog Café is catering dinner and drinks are included. All proceeds from the evening support children and adults with disabilities in North Georgia.

Tickets are available online NOW at www.ConnectAbilityInc.org/gala. $75 per person, $600 for a VIP table to seat eight. Sponsorships are also available. Online auction is now open for bidding. You don’t have to be present at the event to bid on the photos. Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our photographers and help us to reach out to even more families impacted by disabilities.
